Timesheet Service Options: SaaS Hosting and Local Installation

Timesheet is available as a Journyx hosted solution as well as available for installation on customer servers. Journyx can install and maintain Timesheet on our servers at our hosting facility as a Software as a Service (SaaS) solution. Since Timesheet is web-based, access to the application would be just like if you were hosting it yourself, all without having to install the application or maintain the server. There are myriad reasons to choose to have Timesheet hosted by Journyx, including reduced IT burden, increased security, improved compatibility, as well as decreased overall costs.

Journyx Timesheet can be installed locally on a web server running either a UNIX operating system (Linux, Solaris, AIX, FreeBSD) or on the Microsoft Windows operating system connecting to an Oracle®, Microsoft® SQL Server™, or IBM® DB2™ database.

Development Platform

Journyx Timesheet was developed using open standards and architecture using the open source programming language known as Python. Timesheet currently runs on Windows 2000/2003, Windows XP, AIX, Solaris, Linux and FreeBSD. Additionally, Timesheet works with multiple databases including MS SQL, Oracle, DB2 and PostgreSQL. Access to Timesheet data is not dependent on any specific operating system, database, web browser, environment, or external application. By extension, this allows Journyx to integrate seamlessly, more efficiently, and in a multitude of ways.

Licenses

A license is defined as anyone who is currently tracking his/her own time/expense and/or mileage data in the system within a 30 day period, either personally or via a time keeper. A license becomes available (for example for another person) if there is no data entered within a 30 day period.

Free version of Journyx Timesheet

Journyx Timesheet is free for companies that have less than 10 users. So if you're searching for a centralized software solution for tracking time, expenses or mileage costs, then look no further, because Journyx provides you with a complete and easy to use solution. The only cost you will have are your hardware costs and the time you need for the installation, implementation and daily administrative tasks. It's possible to sign up for a 1 year support contract for the free version. This enables you to get support, patches and minor upgrades and you decide if you want to renew the support contract after the year has ended.

The price of a 1 year support contract is € 500 ($ 625).

Local installation

Price includes 1st year maintenance and the free default database appropriate for your platform (MSDE or PostgreSQL). Additionally, the Role Manager and Expense Manager modules are included in the base price of Timesheet.

Maintenance contracts are included with first year pricing. Annual maintenance renewal is optional; however, Journyx strongly recommends continuing your maintenance contract for the most cost effective technical support. Journyx Maintenance contracts provide:

Free access to the latest patch level as well as any new minor releases.
A 50% discount on any new major releases you purchase.
Priority access to technical support.

Are there any other costs which need to be considered when installing Timesheet on one of your own servers?

Hardware costs,
Technical activities (installations (patches, upgrades), possible netwerk changes (firewall, DMZ), scheduling of backups),
Possible security costs (HTTPS certificate),

SaaS (Software as a Service)

When you choose the SaaS option, Journyx will do all the technical administrative activities for you. You just need a pc with an internet connection to use Timesheet. The following is also included with SaaS:

All installation activities (1st installation and installations of patches and upgrades),
Support contract,
Technisch administration (performance, backups and restores),
Secured connection (HTTPS),
All future major releases (for example from version 7.x to 8.x).

The minimum period for SaaS is 3 months and one month cancellation term.
